RECIPE ALERT: Asian Beef with Pear Bites (Whole Foods Special)

We’re excited to partner with Whole Foods on Thursday, January 15, 2015 for our first ever cooking demonstration partnership at four major Whole Foods locations- Columbus Circle, Midtown East, Tribeca and Union Square! We will use Whole Foods products in order to prepare and hand out free samples of asian beef with pear bites to any customers shopping in the area. Please also check out our calendar for the other three locations that will have several “men in blue” trainees greeting shoppers at their local Whole Foods store.

In the meantime, we’d like to share one of our recipes we will serve tomorrow. Our asian beef with pear bite recipe is the absolute perfect, bite-sized appetizer. The amount of flavors that are packed into this little bite will surprise anyone who taste it. We hope to see you tomorrow!

Asian beef with Pear Bite

1 lb. of beef tenderloin or hanger steak, cut into strips that are ½-inch x 2-inches, and ⅛- inch thick

1 pear cut into 1-inch cube

1 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds for garnish


For the marinade:

1 c. of pear juice

¼ c. puréed onion

4 cloves of minced garlic

1 tsp. minced ginger

1 chopped scallion stalk

3 tbsp. soy sauce

2 tbsp. brown sugar

1 tbsp. honey

1 tbsp. rice vinegar

Pinch of ground white pepper

1 tbsp. sesame oil


Thoroughly mix all marinade ingredients in a blender. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the beef and pear with the marinade. Let mixture marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator, or overnight for a tougher cut of beef. Grill beef and pear together. The beef is best cooked over a high flame for approximately 1 minute on each side, until medium rare. Arrange steak bites on tooth picks with the grilled pear as a base. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and enjoy!
