RECIPE ALERT: White and Wild Rice

White and Wild Rice Recipe

Instead of making a simple rice dish as a starch to serve for dinner, why not add a little flavor? Our chef instructor at Pathways facility, Chef Daniel Djoro, uses this “white and wild rice” recipe to bring a little flavor and twist to the traditional rice dish.

White and Wild Rice

1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 large chopped onion
2 large carrots chopped
2 stalks of celery sliced
2 cloves garlic minced
3-1/2 cups vegetable broth
1/2 cup uncooked wild rice
1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

Directions: Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery and garlic and cook until tender. Stir broth and wild rice heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat for 25 minutes. Stir in white rice, cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes or until rice is done. Stir in parsley.
